Some of the flag bearers for the 2012 General Elections have called on the Vice-Chancellor of KNUST, Prof. W. O. Ellis. The visit was part of the Special Seminar presentation on energy that was organised by the Energy Centre, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). The delegation included Mr. Akwasi Addae, flag bearer for the United Front Party (UFP); Mr. Jacob Osei Yeboah, independent candidate and Mr. John Amaka Vice Presidential candidate for the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP).
The Vice-Chancellor, in an address, expressed his joy at receiving these flag bearers and thanked them for accepting to share their views on energy. He also expressed his joy and congratulated Mr. Jacob Osei Yeboah, the only independent candidate and an alumnus of KNUST.
Prof. Ellis said that the seminar was very important to academia because it was the only opportunity to hear from all parties. He further stated that as a university and an academic institution, it was an opportunity to listen and to put all the ideas together and thus assist in disseminating the information acquired to the nation.
He also told the flag bearers that the presentation would be of much benefit to them and advised that whoever wins the 2012 general elections should use the ideas gathered to enrich the lives of the people in the country.
The delegation thanked the Vice-Chancellor and management for the opportunity granted them to share their views, interact with the students and also lay bare their visions and aspirations for the nation.
Speakers in the seminar series will include all eight registered presidential candidates for the various political parties namely: United Front Party (UFP), Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP), Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Independent Party, Convention People’s Party (CPP), People’s National Convention (PNC), New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC).
